How To Set Twitter Profile Priority For Retweets

Back in March 2018, Twitter introduced duplication policy rules stating no duplicate or substantially similar posts can be sent to the same or different Twitter profiles, within any timeframe, no matter if they're published via a scheduler or by live-tweeting.

But don't worry, SmarterQueue can help you get your content out there and follow Twitter's policy, with the help of retweets 💪

How Does SmarterQueue Work With Twitter Duplicate Content?

We make sure to check every Tweet you schedule, right before it's published, to find out whether it’s been sent to any of your Twitter profiles already (profiles connected to your SmarterQueue account).

If the post is  original content, it will be published as a brand new tweet. If the post is a duplicate, we will retweet the original post instead of sending a new tweet.

If you're cross-posting the same tweet to multiple Twitter profiles, only one profile will publish the post as a native tweet (presuming you haven’t already published it before).

Then, 20 seconds later, the next Twitter profile will retweet the original tweet and this will continue until all of your selected profiles have retweeted the original tweet.

This means that you can share the same tweet to up to 10 Twitter profiles at once.

And the best news is that  you can decide which Twitter profile publishes the original Tweet, and which ones will retweet it

How Can I Set Up Retweet Priority?

SmarterQueue lets you arrange your Twitter profiles in a list to set up retweet priority. This will determine which profile will post a native tweet vs other Twitter profiles that will retweet it.

1. Go to your "Profiles" section.

2. Scroll down and select "Set the priority of Twitter profiles for retweets".

3. You'll find a list of all connected Twitter profiles, which you can arrange in order, from Highest Priority to Lowest Priority.

When publishing the same tweet at the same time on multiple Twitter profiles, the one that's highest in the order of preferences will publish the original tweet, while the others found underneath it will retweet.

How Will SmarterQueue Schedule My Tweets And Retweets?

SmarterQueue is a power-scheduling tool that offers a wide variety of ways to send your content out to your Social Profiles.

This means that when planning to cross-post the same tweet to multiple Twitter profiles, you'll see several options to schedule your content, under 'Post Timing'.

Create your post in the Post Editor - select a Category, the Twitter profiles to which you want to publish, and add your content:

Then, depending on your choice, you'll see the following results:

When Adding Content To The Queue

Under 'Post Timing' you might choose to send the tweets to the top or bottom of the Queue:

When saving the post, the content will be sent to the Queue.

Posts that are sent to the Queue will be published based on the Timeslots in your Posting Plan:

  • If the posts end up being scheduled on the same date and at the same time (like in the example above), the original tweet will be sent to the Twitter profile that's highest in the order of preferences, and the rest will retweet.
  • If the posts end up being scheduled at different times, or even on different dates, then the one that goes out first will be the original tweet and all others that follow will be retweeted.

When Pinning Content To Specific Dates/Times

Under 'Post Timing' you might choose to schedule your posts for a specific date/time (maybe even as a recurring post).

In this case, all of the resulting tweets will be set to go out on the same date and at the exact same time.

In this case, as all tweets will go out  on the same date and at the same time the original tweet will be sent to the Twitter profile that's highest in the order of preferences, and the rest will retweet.

When Publishing Your Post Now

Under 'Post Timing' you might choose to publish the tweets right away, by selecting 'Post Now'.

In this case, you'll see an error message explaining that Twitter doesn't allow the same content to be posted to multiple profiles simultaneously.

You'll be able to publish the tweets right away if you customize the text for each Twitter profile, to make them different.

If you want to move forward with the same tweet for all Twitter profiles, where one is published as an original tweet while the other profiles retweet it, you can simply change the publishing setting to send the content to the Queue or schedule it for a specific date/time.
