How To Schedule Instagram Reels

There's really no better way to gain brand awareness right now than through Instagram Reels.

Publishing Reels will ensure that your content is seen both on the Explore page and via an endless feed of Reels that people will scroll through for hours. This is the best way to reach people to whom your brand might otherwise not be visible.

Publishing Reels to your Personal or Media Creator Instagram Profile will require the SmarterQueue Mobile App, or converting your profile to an Instagram Business profile.

How To Create Your Reel In SmarterQueue

PLEASE NOTE: Before you get started creating Reels, you'll either need to enable Direct Publishing for your Instagram profile, or else download the latest version of the SmarterQueue Mobile App, for your iOS or your Android device.

1. Click 'Create a Post' to open the Post Editor.

2. Next, choose a Category.

3. Then select the Instagram Profile you'd like to create a post for.

Note: In this example, we selected an Instagram Personal profile, which is why we're unable to see the profile picture. Read more about the benefits of switching to and using an Instagram Business profile.

4. You will now see an option to select the ‘Instagram Post Type’. Select ‘Reel’.

This will update the Preview pane on the right-hand side to show your future Post in the Story format.

5. Write your caption in the text box.

6. Then add your video by dragging it onto the screen or clicking the camera icon under 'Media' to select a file to upload. You'll see an hourglass icon instead of your video until you save the post and let the video load.

Note: You can schedule several different types of posts to your Instagram Personal Profile including single-image posts, multi-image carousel posts, video posts to your feed, and stories!

How to Direct-Publish Your Reel

If you've got an Instagram Business profile and have enabled Direct Publishing, you can schedule your Instagram Reels to be auto-published for you!

There are three additional benefits when auto-publishing videos as Reels:

They will also appear in your Feed/Grid
They can be up to 15 minutes long!
They can be full-screen 9:16 videos

This means you can bypass two annoying limitations when auto-publishing videos to your Feed; they can only be 60 seconds long, and can't be taller than 4:5 aspect ratio.

By posting your video as a Reel instead, you can share Feed videos longer than 60 seconds, and taller than 4:5 aspect ratio. This even beats sharing Reels directly in Instagram's own app, where they're limited to 90 seconds.

How To Publish Your Reel Via The iOS Mobile App

You can easily finish up publishing your Reel on Instagram, via the SmarterQueue Mobile App. As an iOS user, you'll need to follow these quick steps for each type of video post:

1. Download the latest version of the SmarterQueue Mobile App for iOS, make sure you log into your SmarterQueue account and that notifications are enabled.

2. When it's time to post, you’ll receive a push notification on your mobile device.

3. Please make sure you’re logged into the correct Instagram profile on the Instagram App, then open the notification on your iPhone 💪

4. You'll see a preview of your post with your caption and can click to play the video. Tap 'Post To Instagram' to continue.

The video file will be saved to your Camera Roll, and the caption will be automatically copied.

5. You'll be redirected to the Instagram App to choose between a 'Story' or 'Feed' post. You'll need to press the "x" in the upper-left corner to exit.

6. Reopen the Instagram App and press on the "+" sign to create a new Reel post.

7. This will open your Camera in the Instagram App, to get you started in creating your new Reel. Select the Camera Roll icon on the bottom-left corner.

8. Once in the Camera Roll, you can open the saved video and start working on your amazing Reel post.

Moving forward you'll have a lot of great editing options at your disposal to create your Reel. You'll still find your caption on the clipboard to paste in where needed. ✨

How To Publish Your Reel Via The Android Mobile App

To finish up publishing your Reel on Instagram, you'll need to use the SmarterQueue Mobile App. If you're an Android user, this is easily done by following these steps:

1. Download the latest version of the SmarterQueue Mobile App for Android and make sure you log into your SmarterQueue account (notifications should be enabled by default).

2. When it's time to post, you’ll receive a push notification on your mobile device. Tap the notification to open your SmarterQueue Mobile App.

3. Please make sure you’re logged into the correct Instagram profile on the Instagram App, then open the notification on your phone 💪

4. You'll see a preview of your post. Tap 'Post To Instagram' to continue. You'll be redirected to the Instagram App.

The video file will be saved to your Gallery, and the caption will be automatically copied.

5. You'll be redirected to the Instagram App to create your Story post. You'll need to press the "x" in the upper-left corner to exit.

This step could send you outside of the Instagram App. No worries, the video is still saved to your Gallery, while the caption is still in your clipboard.

6. Reopen the Instagram App and press on the "+" sign to create a new Reel post.

7. This will open your Camera in the Instagram App, to get you started in creating your new Reel. Select the Gallery icon on the bottom-left corner.

8. Once in the Gallery, you can open the saved video and start working on your amazing Reel post.
