Twitter: Common Error Messages

This article presents common Twitter error messages, and how to resolve them 💪

  • Missing Required Parameter: Status - The tweet is empty. To fix, add text to the tweet.
  • No Status Found with that ID - The tweet that you included a reply or retweeted no longer is at this location (if it existed, it was probably deleted). To fix, simply remove the post that references the deleted tweet.
  • Tweet needs to be a bit shorter - Your tweet needs to be 280 characters, less if you include a link or an image. To fix, try shortening your text a bit and then retry.
  • Twitter media upload failed: invalid API response - Twitter did not receive the image or video that you uploaded, possibly due to a server or network traffic error. To fix, simply retry the post at a different time.
  • Invalid or expired token - You have been logged out of Twitter. To fix, re-login, then re-authorise your Twitter profile in SmarterQueue and try again.
  • Internal error - Twitter has had some type of unspecified error on their end. To fix, retry the post. If this persists, try logging out of Twitter and disconnecting from your SmarterQueue profile, then re-login to Twitter and re-connect Twitter in your profile.
  • This request looks like it might be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activity, we can't complete this action right now. Please try again later - Twitter has misidentified your Tweet as a spam posting. To fix, rewrite your post and try again a little later. If this continues to occur, you may need to file a support request with Twitter and/or wait a few days and try again.
  • Image file size must be <= 5242880 bytes - Your image needs to be resized or lessened in resolution to create a smaller file size. To fix, resize your image and retry the tweet with the updated image.
  • Image dimensions must be >= 4x4 and <= 8192x8192 - Your image needs to be resized to be uploaded to Twitter. To fix, resize your image and retry the tweet with the updated image.
