What Do The Symbols In The Queue Mean?

SmarterQueue is a power-scheduling tool that offers a wide variety of ways to schedule and publish your content to your Social Profiles.

Whether you're publishing your posts based on your Posting Plan, scheduling them for specific dates and times, or setting them up as recurring, we've made it easy for you to check and tell them apart in the Queue using a set of color-coded symbols. 💪

Posts Published Based On Your Posting Plan

When creating your posts in the Post Editor, you're asked to select your 'Post Timing' and 'Evergreen Post Recycling' options.

Based on your selection, SmarterQueue posts the following content based on the Timeslots you've set up in your Posting Plan

Here's how you can identify them in the Queue:

1. Posts for which you've selected Add to Queue (top/bottom) and Don't Recycle:

These posts will be sent to the top/bottom of the Queue and will be posted only once:

Note: The cross-arrows on the left-hand side of the post mean that it will be published using a Timeslot in the Posting Plan and that you can re-order it in the Queue

2. Posts for which you've selected Add to Queue (top/bottom), along with Recycle After Posting

These posts will be sent to the top/bottom of the Queue and will be published for the first time. After they are published once, they will always be sent back to the bottom of the Queue and published again when their turn comes:

Because they will be posted multiple times, the Queue will show a green ' Cycle' box next to the publishing time, to help you quickly identify them and see how many times they've been published so far.

In this case, one of the posts is waiting to be published for the first time (Cycle #1), while the other will be posted for the 6th time (Cycle #6).

3. Posts for which you've selected Post Now, along with Recycle After Posting

Any post you select to Post Now will be published as soon as you press the 'Post Now' button.

That said if the post is set to  Recycle After Posting, it will be sent to the bottom of the Queue right after it's published, starting with 'Cycle #2' and will be sent out again when its turn comes:

4. Posts that will Recycle After Posting and are set to expire.

When using Evergreen Recycling, you are able to set the posts to expire, after being published a certain number of times and/or after a specific date.

In this case, you will be able to see an  hourglass icon next to the green 'Cycle' box. You can hover over this box to read more about when the post is set to expire:

As the post above post is set to eventually expire, the green 'Cycle' box will show both what Cycle we're on, as well as the total number of Cycles there will be based on the expiration settings we selected (in this case 10 out of 12).

Note: Watch for the 'Cycle' box turn orange on the last Cycle:

Posts Scheduled For Specific Dates And Times

When creating your posts in the Post Editor, you're asked to select your 'Post Timing' and 'Evergreen Post Recycling' options.

If you choose to schedule posts for specific dates and times, SmarterQueue will publish accordingly as well as use the  Timeslots you've set up in your Posting Plan for recycling.

Here's how you can identify these posts in the Queue:

1. Posts for which you've selected Schedule (only one date and time for publishing) and Don't Recycle.

This post will end up in the Queue to be published once:

Note: The pin on the left-hand side of the post means that it will be published using the date and time you specified. If you want to make any edits to this, simply select the pencil icon on the right-hand side to edit

2. Posts for which you've selected Schedule (multiple dates and times for publishing) and Don't Recycle.

These posts will be sent to the Queue and will be published exactly on the dates you've selected (at the specified times). Only the upcoming date and time will be visible in the Queue:

Because they will be posted multiple times, the Queue will show a green 'Scheduled' box next to the publishing time, to help you quickly identify them and see how many times they've been published so far.

The post above is waiting to be published for the first time, out of three scheduled posts.

Note: Watch for the 'Schedule' box turn orange on the last posting date/time:

3. Posts for which you've selected Schedule (only one date and time for publishing) and Recycle After Posting.

These posts will only be scheduled once based on the date/time you've mentioned. After that, they will always be sent back to the bottom of the Queue and published again when their turn comes.

Because Evergreen Recycling comes in right away and the post will be sent out multiple times, the Queue will show a green 'Cycle' box next to the publishing time, to help you quickly identify them and see how many times they've been published so far.

Note: The pin on the left-hand side of the post lets us know that the post is scheduled for a specific date and time, even though the Evergreen 'Cycle' box is visible.

4. Posts for which you've selected Schedule (multiple dates and times for publishing) and Recycle After Posting.

These posts will be sent to the Queue and will be initially be published exactly on the dates you've selected (at the specified times). During these times, a green 'Scheduled' box will be seen next to the publishing time:

Afterward, they will revert to Evergreen recycling, they will start showing a green 'Cycle' box, and will begin to be published based on Timeslots you've set up in your Posting Plan

5. Posts that will Recycle After Posting and are set to expire.

When using Evergreen Recycling, you are able to set the posts to expire, after being published a certain number of times and/or after a specific date.

In this case, you will be able to see an  hourglass icon on the post.

This icon will show next to the green 'Scheduled' box as long as the post is being published based on your selected dates/times:

Note: The post above is set to expire after 5 posts, but only has 4 scheduled dates/times. For the fifth time in the Queue, the post will show the hourglass icon next to a green 'Cycle' box (as it will be Evergreen) and will be published based on Timeslots you've set up in your Posting Plan

Recurring Posts

When creating your posts in the Post Editor, you're asked to select your 'Post Timing'.

If you choose to set your posts as 'Recurring', SmarterQueue will publish on an initial date/time, and then repeat at regular intervals you select.

Note: Evergreen Recycling options are not available for recurring posts, as they already repeat based on their settings.

Here's how you can identify these posts in the Queue:

1. Posts for which you've selected Recurring.

These posts will be published in perpetuity. As such, you will be able to see a green 'Recurring' box next to the publishing time, to help you quickly identify them and see how many times they've been published so far:

Note: The pin on the left-hand side of the post means that it will be published using the date and time you specified. If you want to make any edits to this, simply select the pencil icon on the right-hand side to edit

2. Posts for which you've selected Recurring and are set to expire.

Since recurring posts will be published in perpetuity, you can choose to have them expire, after being published a certain number of times and/or after a specific date.

In this case, you will be able to see an  hourglass icon on the post. This icon will show next to the green 'Recurring' box:

The post above will be published at regular intervals, based on your selection, until February 24th, 2023. 💪

Posts With Variations

Variations are a great way to test image and copy options as well as keep your Evergreen content fresh and unique!

These posts will also be easily identifiable in your Queue.

In addition to the symbols for your 'Post Timing' and 'Evergreen Post Recycling' settings, you will also be able to see the total number of Variations available for a post, as well as what Variation will be published next

When the Queue reaches the last Variation for a post, the Variation label will be shown in orange:

In the example above, we have a total of 10 Variations. Out of these, 9 were already published once, and the 10th will be sent out next. We know that each Variation was only published once, as the number of cycles matches the number of Variations.

That said, if your post is set as Evergreen, all the Variations will be recycled. The ' Cycle' box next to the publishing time will continue to count how many times a version of the post is published:

If you've set a post to expire after a set number of cycles, the hourglass icon indicates that the post has expiry options set. On the last cycle, we'll show the Evergreen label in orange, to indicate that the post will be expired after this cycle:
